According to surveys of first responders such firefighters, ambulance drivers, and resue workers, there is a critical need for unbreakable and secure communication – both within and across teams.
ConnectStar™ is robust because it uses triple-redundant communication mechanisms. ConnectStar receives a 3G cellular signal and converts it to Wi-Fi. It can also connect via a traditional Ethernet network. As a failsafe, multiple ConnectStar hot spots can be configured as a mesh network for vehicle-to-vehicle and peer-to-peer communication. This is important in emergency situations, when public networks become inoperable.
ConnectStar supports VoIP telephony, which makes it a practical alternative to Software-Defined-Radio communication. It also comes with an embedded GPS receiver, which makes it possible to coordinate multiple response teams on a peer-to-peer basis through a common Intranet.
In addition, deploying ConnectStar into the field is quick and easy. ConnectStar is small enough for responders to carry in a pocket, it can be mounted for long-term operation in any vehicle, and it can even be remotely deployed into a hazardous environment to monitor sensors.
